Businesses are to embrace business practices improvement...........

by learning to overcome their own ignorance and be willing to implement change. In the business world, there are many levels of prejudice and whenever I see prejudice, I often view those who hold such prejudice as ignorant rather than rude. With that thinking, ignorance is basically being unaware. Executives who understands that accommodation is good customer service and by flexible about people’s access needs. Be aware that disabilities are hidden and should accommodate when requested without question. Bottom line, bringing in business means good disability accommodation is good customer service who will be paying for services. There are organizations that will train and educate executives how to deal effectively with people who have disabilities. There are about an estimated of 55 million customers with disabilities of all kinds including those who are aging, deafness, Mutliple Sclerosis and other disabilities in the United States.

Since laws like ADA are not really helping educating the executives of corporations so therefore, if they want to make more money, they are to have understanding and compassion for customers who are paying their money for their business services. It is essential to understand that the ADA is a civil rights law; its purpose is to end discrimination against people with disabilities and to provide them with equal opportunity for everyone with disabilities.

If corporate executives are not willing to understand and change, then they are very insensitive to what disabled people and their families. Reading Karen's blog, meeting with executives regarding accomanding people with disabilities, with her case, deafness is one of many examples that many people with disabilities have been facing over the years.

We have come a long way since the Disability rights movement started in the 1970s which were led by individuals with disabilities. Life does not discriminate who gets disabled but people with attitudes discriminates disabled people.

I would love to see executives who understands and be willing to do more effectively providing accessible customer service to the market of customers with disabilities.
