The reason, researchers suspect, is that men place great value on beauty, whereas women are more interested in having a supportive husband. This is the same for opposite for me like me. I place value who my wife is inside rather than who she is outside. I could not ask for a better woman and best friend.
You wonder why marriage lasts? Beauty on the outside or beauty from the inside?
Marriages that last get their strength and beauty from inside simply because love is from within, not from superficial.

I am glad you have such a Christ honouring view of marriage, and you value your wife for her inner beauty. It is sad that most people look at the outward appearances and neglect the more important aspect of a godly and Christ loving wife/husband.
Proverbs 31:30 said "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." and Proverbs 19:14 "House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD."
Ah Marriage. That's a complicated question-- why it lasts. Some of it is luck in finding the right partner I think.
I read recently that people are more likely to stay married longer if they marry after college and live in a Democratic "Blue" state. WHY? You'd think it would be the opposite, that Conservatives stay together longer and Liberals would be likely to throw in the towel?? But it turns out Liberals are more likely to be college-educated which means they marry later, seek professional help when things go wrong, and tend to be more flexible about gender roles and work divisions. Interesting-- NO?
But who knows if any of it's true? The experts are always saying stuff. Then they tell us the opposite a few months later.
Couldnt agree more!
Well said!
