Some in deaf community upset over school's billboard

I bet ya that AG Bell is behind this by influencing school officials who now believes the sign is positive. A billboard promoting an Omaha school for the hearing impaired is drawing fire from some in the community it’s trying to serve, with some deaf people saying they’re insulted by the sign’s message. I said earlier in my blog:
Audism, like racism and sexism, is discrimination against deaf and hearing-imparied individuals however, I do acknowledge that there is a significant difference between ignorance and audism. Nowadays, its hard to tell the difference but I believe that with today's technology and disability discrimination laws that are out there, there should not be any ignorance. My only conclcusion is that people are doing audism rather than being ignorant.
On the other hand, we have to remember that being Parents of children with disabilities are NOT easy and we work much harder than parents of "normal" kids. One example of stereotyping is the Deaf Culture viewing the non-deaf or hard of hearing. Especially parents of deaf children. Most people with major disabilities will NOT reject the "cure" of medical intervention (the cochlear implants)while some deaf individuals will reject medical advances.
